Welcome back!

Our new topic this half term is ‘How do I get there?’, we will be looking at transport and how we travel to different places around the UK and the world.

This week we have been learning about road safety whilst walking to places close to us, such as the library and school. To help us we had a visit from our lollipop lady, Pat.

Remember: Reception start their transition to Year 1 tomorrow by starting P.E lessons and having toast on the big yard with the KS1 children. Please remember to bring a labelled P.E kit in for your child.

Farm Visit!

We had a lovely time at Smithills Farm at the end of last half term!

We rode on a donkey, fed the animals, went on a tractor ride and watched the cows being milked. It was a brilliant day and the children loved it!

Animals

Our new learning challenge for this half term is ‘How can we look after animals?’ As we explore this learning challenge we will be learning about a variety of animals and where they live, such as pets, jungle animals, animals that live in the sea, woodland animals and farm animals. Later on in the term we will be going on a school trip to the farm, a letter with more detail will be sent out nearer the time.

We also welcomed two class pet fish!

Reception named their fish ‘Beautiful Grandad Dave’ and Nursery named theirs ‘Cleo’thumbnail_IMG_8548-225x300

Babies

This week we have been exploring babies and looking at what we looked like when we were babies. We had a special visit from a little baby called Annie, and we found out lots about her by asking her mummy questions.

We have also enjoyed looking at pictures of us from when we were babies (teachers and children)! Remember you can bring in baby pictures of your child in an envelope. Thank you to everyone who has brought them in and shared them to the class.

Holi Celebration

Yesterday we had a brilliant time celebrating Holi. Holi is the festival of colours, so to celebrate we wore our wetsuits and threw colourful powder paint at each other and in the air. By the end our playground looked like a rainbow!IMG_5775 IMG_5780 IMG_5778

Spring Term 1

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a wonder Christmas.

Our new key question for this half term is: who are the characters in my favourite books and rhymes? To explore this we will be looking at a variety of nursery rhymes and traditional tales, such as Elves and the Shoemaker, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Enormous Turnip, Gingerbread Man and Jack and the Beanstalk.

It would be wonderful if you could encourage your child to learn the nursery rhymes as they thoroughly enjoy singing them at school.
